Rahma – Talib’s new release

Talib’s new album – Rahma, Prophetic Wisdom for Young Hearts – will be released during the blessed month of Ramadan.  This album has been designed to introduce children (of all ages) to the beautiful and wisdom filled words of Rasulullah (s) through song.  As Talib himself notes in his message:

"Most of the nasheeds on this album are based directly on the wisdom-filled words of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (s). They are structured around the actual text of several ahadith - either in complete or partial form. In addition, I have made an attempt to translate, in verse form, either the literal meaning or the transmitted understanding of the narration."

Songs of Innocence video...

Filmed on location in the picturesque mountains and valleys of Wales, the ‘Songs of Innocence’ video tells the short but meaningful tale of a father’s long journey home to his family.  It has been filmed more as a story than a typical music video, with the nasheed serving as its soundtrack (which is why you never actually see Talib singing).  It attempts to highlight some of the themes that underlie Songs of Innocence: love, innocence, contemplation, spiritual journeying and eventual return.  We hope you will enjoy the result...

Talib al Habib performs in South Africa

Venue: Durban Exhibition Centre, Durban, South Africa
From 23 Dec till 1st Jan 2006

Al-Ansaar Foundation presents the largest Islamic exhibition and Trade Fair in the country. With an estimated crowd of over 100 000 national and international visitors.

The line-up of performers was impressive, with Talib al-Habib from the UK, Sheikh Ghazzali of Australia, and Inayat Petker from Zimbabwe. South Africa also had a magnificent repertoire of artists of its own represented at the festival, including Shaheed Al-Kawn, Zain Bhikha and Areef Subrathie, and Reyhaan girls group from Cape Town
Talib al-Habib is undoubtedly the most popular artist on the program. His debut album Songs of Innocence provoked tears to roll openly down the cheeks of many.

Songs of Innocence is dedicated to his two beautiful little girls who provided the inspiration for the song:
You lie there on your bed, with your sleepy eyes and your heavy head. Rest and dream till morning comes again. I will sing my songs of innocence … So many roads before you spread. Take the way, my child, to our beloved friend.
Talib al-Habib is not only a psychiatrist, but also a student of tasawwuf (or Sufism, the Islamic science which focuses on the purification of the heart). He inspired the listeners of Radio Al-Ansaar with his talks on spirituality and advice on how to deal with the problems they face in life. He is a seeker of the Beloved, and his personality is as intriguing as his nasheeds. On his artistry he says, "I express my thoughts through my music and poetry. I am inspired by my wife and kids." Although he is accustomed to performing regularly on stage with other artists in the United Kingdom, Talib al-Habib expressed his satisfaction at the world-class line up at the Al-Ansaar Souk.
