A young South African Hafiz al-Quran and poet who has been reciting classical Urdu poetry from the age of 8 years old. He has been thoroughly trained in the various forms of this ancient traditional art by some of the leading masters of the Urdu poetry in Southern Africa.
His mother Muhtarama Moonira Kazi Siddiqui is the direct descendant of the world renowned scholar, sufi and poet , the late Mawlana Abd al Aleem Siddiqui (may Allah bless him and give him peace).
Under the careful and and expert guidance of his parents, Raashid has honed this art in the manner of the Sufi masters, by performing primarily in elevated spiritual gatherings, uniting his renditions with the potent formulae of dhikr to return Urdu poetry to its original source and purpose-invoking and instilling the love of Allah and his Messenger (SAW) upon tongue, ear and heart.
